IGN PS 2 recently updated their Uzumaki Ninden page with new screenshots and videos. The game was released on August 18th, there has been no firm information on a U.S. release date at this time.

Nintendo execs should be happy, as the new DS Shonen Jump themed title debuted at the top of the Japanese game sales charts, selling 220,912 units. Chances of seeing the title stateside are probably slim though due to multiple corporations holding licenses to all the series (including Naruto, Dragonball, One Piece, etc.) featured in the game.

Some interesting news from Lycos, as was the case with Dragonball for many a week, a new anime series has entered the top 50 Lycos searches for the week. Naruto has debuted at number 40 after a 1,400 percent jump in search activity.

Lycos still needs to do some research though, stating the series was purchased by Cartoon Network to air on Adult Swim. As you know, the series was actually purchased by Shopro-Viz to air on Toonami.

And how Dragonball continues to stay at #3 on the search list boggles my mind.

Episodes 147 and 148 have aired in Japan. The Mizuki arc ends while a new one begins! Episode 147 is titled Fateful Showdown! You Won’t Defeat Me and 148 is titled Super Pursuit Power Even Akamaru Is Jealous Of! Seek The Mysterious Bikou-mushi.

Anime News Network has posted a CN press release detailing the coming airing of Naruto. While it doesn’t go into much, the section saying it attracted a huge following through DVD releases and bootlegs was quite an interesting acknowledgement.

Here’s the meat of the press release, hopefully it can give us an accurate idea of how closely the English dub will follow the Japanese original.

The story of Naruto begins 12 years ago, when the evil Nine Tailed Fox demon terrorized The Hidden Leaf Village. The Fourth Lord Hokage sacrificed himself to seal the demon inside the body of a baby, bringing the decimation to an end. For fear that the boy, Naruto, would abuse the powers inside him and release the demon within, a rule was made that forbad anyone to tell him that he possessed the spirit of the Nine Tailed Fox. Raised as an orphan and with no one believing in him, Naruto grew up unaware of the reason that the villagers shunned him.

Now a teenager, Naruto attempts to earn the respect of the villagers by training to become the Village Hokage, the top ninja in the village. As a student at the ninja academy, he is earnest and hardworking, yet clumsy. As Naruto develops as a ninja, he must learn to control his special powers to become the respected master ninja.
