Episode 176: Dash, Stray, Zigzag Run! Chase, Chased, Mistaken
Naruto’s group, searching for the buried treasure, has been ensnared in the Kedouin clan’s trap. The Kedouin clan pose as Naruto’s group and infiltrate Konoha. Naruto’s group hurry after them, and it turns into a pursuit battle between real and fakes.
Episode 177: OH?! Please Mr Postman
Naruto, on the way back from a mission, stops in at a hot spring village and finds Jiraiya. Naruto gets angry that since Jiraiya has free time he should be training Naruto, but Jiraiya is on a deadline for his manuscript. He says that if it gets done soon, he’ll make time for training. Naruto waits, but starts to lose his temper when there’s no sign of it finishing. Naruto decides to imitate Jiraiya and make his own manuscript, entrusting it to a courier ninja, who is a professional postman.
Episode 178: Encounter, The Boy with the Name of Hoshi (Star)
A bodyguard request for a “star” comes from the Hidden Star Village in Bear Country. It seems that the star is a meteorite that fell 200 years ago and has a mysterious power. Naruto and Neji’s team are sent as bodyguards, and meet the client, a boy ninja named Sumaru, at the valley border. Naruto empathises with Sumaru, who says he is aiming to be Hoshikage in the future.
Episode 179: Natsuhiboshi (Summer day’s star), Remembered Lullaby
The user of Kujaku Myouhou, a special ninja art passed down in the Star Village, has taken the star. Naruto’s group begin an investigation based on the fact that the thief must be related to the village. During this, Naruto unexpectedly finds out about Sumaru’s dark past.
Name Notes: Sumaru is another word for Subaru, which is the star cluster Pleiades in Japanese. Kujaku Myouhou literally means “peacock mystery”, but it is a wordplay on “Kujaku Myouou”, which is the Buddhist Mayuri Vidya-raja, or “holder of the mantras”.
Our thanks to Pazuzu for the information. “Hidden Star Village” our first new hidden village in awhile. “Star” brings to mind “Moon,” that weird headband symbol seen on a Genin taking the Chuunin Exam’s first test. Any relation, or does the celestial relation at least give more weight to the possibility of Hidden Moon? “Hoshikage” is retarded though, hopefully if they dare use the “Kage” title one of the Five Kage’s will royally beat them down.

How come the Kakashi gaiden didn’t start? I thought it would. stupid, stupid, fillers.
But I have a feeling the Kakashi Gaiden will be animated because it would leave alot of things unfinished in the story. Too many loose ends would be left untied. Plus, if the Kakashi Gaiden took up about 3/4ths of a manga volume to do, I doubt they could cover everything in an OAV.

285?! Are you crazy?! Jiraiya promised a 3 year training session for Naruto. By 285 it would already be the end of 1 and a half years! Besides in the comic it was 3 months after Sasuke escaped and betrayed Konoha. the fill ins are probably to cover those 3 months or more.

Remember, though, that the anime is doing these fillers so the manga can get ahead–maybe the head animator/ head art director for the naruto manga and naruto anime both decided that the manga hasn’t gained enough lead, so it could very well be episode 190/ 200 before the kakashi gaiden even starts, or it might be sooner, it just depends on whether the tops of the manga and anime world of naruto decide to go ahead an continue along the manga storyline.
Not to mention one thing these fillers are doing is giving the audience (well, those who watch them) more of an impact as to Orochimaru’s real personality and bring more urgency to Naruto’s need to get Sasuke back. It also gives the other characters a little bit more screentime before they age three years.
Yes, the filler episodes are *not* in the official manga, but i’m pretty sure *someone* from the manga staff was at least asked about what should be/ shouldn’t be in the anime episodes, since it would be inconvenient if, say, Anko was shown in the manga to actually (just an example, mind you) have been dumped like a piece of garbage instead of deciding for herself whether to go with Orochimaru after he placed the heaven seal on her. It would sort of leave those doing scripts for the anime at a loss, and have to waste their time on more filler. Animating 24 or 30 different pictures that will only constitute a second of animation is time-consuming, not to mention cleaning them up, coloring them, and going through the whole rest of the process!
Therefore, the people heading the anime probably want to know as much of the story as possible (for more material to work with) before they start to animate along the regular storyline again.
I mean, how many manga came out before the anime was even concieved as an idea? Ten, twenty manga books (i don’t know myself, just asking), but i’m sure there were a lot. This circumstance may not be any different.

don’t worry 256 hakke divination, animators have to animate according to a storyboard. A storyboard is done based on a script, and the scriptwriters get most of their material from the manga.
I read somewhere that the fillers are planned to go only until the around the first week of this upcoming April, so it could just as well be ep 180 to become the Kakashi Gaiden.
Next question after that: might there be filler episodes in the Kakashi gaiden?

I just hope these freakin’ fillers end at 180 or 185. I want to see Kakashi!!!! And i’m with you Jalen Wright for praying for the series.
But I think that the fillers are kind of an interesting way to show some stuff we wouldn’t get to see otherwise. It does help explain the feelings of the character and help develop personality, but you don’t have to do it right before they show Kakashi Gaiden! I read through three weeks worth of manga to read that part of the manga, and I hope I don’t have to wait any longer to see it animated. I’ve got so many ideas for an AMV in my head that its driving me insane, if i’m not allready there.

No, I unfortunately don’t work for the manga company (I can only wish, like many fans!) however, I am at college studying to become an animator and have had to at least *somewhat* memorize the process (though it seems to change a little bit every quarter depending on which teacher is asked…).
Even though it wouldn’t be manga-canon, I would like to see more of the 4th Hokage on screen, more for personality than anything. I have the sneaking suspician that he was at least a closet pervert–I mean, look at his teacher, and look at one of his students!

But I think that Sakumo and Yondaime worked side by side at one time, because they both have really cool nicknames (Konohas yellow flash, Konohas white fang,) But what really makes me think this is that they were both Kage-level, and threy probably knew each other.

Okay… I realized that a just a few minutes after I put the post….
But I’ve seen those pictures, and they could be just colored parts of the manga. I’ve seen it done before with pictures of Obito and Yondaime. It could just be fanart, but if it isn’t than this proves that the FILLER ARCS WILL EVENTUALLY END! YES! BEST NEWS I’VE EVER HEARD! i dont know why everyone here is spazzing. In the subbed episodes it usually tells us how many weeks of filler we have left. It said 4 weeks on the dig here woof woof episode. So if you guys can count, it would be 3 after zig zag run, 2 after mr. postman, and 1 after boy named hoshi, which leads to the last filler episode being remembered lullaby. On a boy named hoshi it should say 1 MORE week of filler. That one MORE week of filler is episode 179. 179 was never meant to be the kakashi gaiden episode. 180 was.

There has been rumor about the ending of the manga where Yondaime actually is the leader of Akatsuki along with his wife. Itachi was forced to join Akatsuki and Kakashi dies saving Gai…so,ya.

where on earth did my last post end up? oh well.
Typically when an anime is based on a manga, I *believe* the animation company’s scriptwriter goes from the manga itself (either that or gets together/ bubby-buddy with the scriptwriter for the manga) so therefore if the anime caught up to the manga the animators would literally have to stop themselves or else risk deviating from the manga story, and since the anime is, esencially, the manga translated to animation, the animation companies really can’t risk it.
I actually doubt there’s a definite ending to Naruto right now, seeing as how Naruto’s supposed to be a modern-day DBZ-like series in just the utter span of time the series might run, not to mention the animation company wants to eek out as much money from this series as it can, and there being a definite end to the series at this rate could spell quite the doom for a possibly-valuable franchise.
I mean, yeah, Naruto could just as well become Hokage and that be the end of it, since that’s Naruto’s dream and all, but that could just be a tentative ending- an ending where the series can be extended if the series is found to still be popular by the time that ending comes up.
and, though people are getting sick of them already, one must definitely plan on more filler episodes in the future, just because of that manga-anime relationship.

But I don’t see how anybody could know what the end of the manga would be like, the creator probably has just a general idea of it. But somehow I doubt Kakashi would die saving Gai…..
But I doubt Yondaime died, and if he really did, then hes bound to show up later….

I doubt it, because as soon as something comes out in japan it is normally found by a translator and translated in about a day or so. I doubt any spoilers will be present, but for the sake of optimisim, YEAH! KAKASHI GAIDEN!

Hey don’t forget about me! I’m going to Japan during the Kakashi Gaiden(I hope all the rumors of it starting it is true)! This is going to be so awesome i can finally watch it in Japan instead of YouTube. Not that I’m being offensive or anything. Anyway, KAKASHI GAIDEN IS GOING TO ROCK OUR WORLD!

I’ve been patiently watching the fillers all this time and never complained, but now that the actual manga-based script is close the excitement I feel makes me hate them more and more (and I really thought they were not so bad).

no matter how much you all moan and groan about the fillers, i’m afraid it’s still three or so weeks before episode 180 (whether or not it’s Kakashi Gaiden) so as long as constant time is still there, we’ll have to wait.
