AAA Anime has the first uncut boxset now up for preorder. This first set includes the first 13 episodes of the series. We get our first look at the packaging which appears to include a fold-out insert of the first four Japanese DVD release covers, the box itself and the three DVD’s. Looks to be a great buy a retail price of $19.98. If that price holds up everyone in the U.S. who downloaded these episodes should show their appreciation for the series and buy this set. At this price it’s like practically giving the episodes away.
*ahem* Soap-box moment now done.
Update: Looks like it was indeed to go too be true. The price has been adjusted to $49.98. Everyone should still do themselves and Kishimoto a favor and buy these boxsets. I’m sure retailers will actually sale the DVD’s a bit below the $49 MSRP.
Update 2: Thanks to StealthSeeker in the Comments, RightStuf now has their own page up selling the first box set. It lists for $37.49. Which is still a great deal. It addition to coming in a collectible gold foil embossed box, the set includes a storyboards booklet “from sketch to screen” and “storyboard to animation comparison” and a preview of upcoming Naruto releases.

I know the ones I get are bootlegs but the dubbing is nice and DVD quality is perfect. I’m not going to be a sell-out to VIZ.

You can say what you want but these bootlegs are quite good and the subs are accurate.
I was just telling people because it will be years before the dub catches up with where the anime is now. There is no point in waiting when there are perfectly fine DVDs available right now.

The main point is that by buying the official release, you’re supporting Kishimoto, the guy who makes the series you like so much. You should be supporting official Naruto merchandise whenever you can, it helps insure the creator gets paid for their hard work.

Yeah, I know what you mean but I have hated VIZ for a long time though (Not because of the Naruto dub). Plus, I have been buying these Naruto DVDs years before Naruto was ever licensed. I’m not going to buy these new DVDs published by a company which I have despised for years when I have bootlegs that are just as good. Hell, you couln’t even tell if they were bootlegs or not unless you knew that the official ones don’t have an English subtitle option.
I will keep buying the bootlegs. Besides, I buy plenty of Naruto merchandise (ordered from Japan) so you can’t say that I’m not supporting Kishimoto. We all download the manga and anime anyway so theres no differance. I just refuse to buy anything with the VIZ name.
All I wanted to do was spread the word that there are already many Naruto DVDs out there for half the price of VIZ’s release. I’m not telling anyone to not buy VIZ’s products, I’m just trying to be helpful.
